In January construction crews working in the area of Piura discovered more than a few abbreviated pyramids and a enormous adobe platform.Peru’s National Institute of Culture (INC) were dispatched to examine the discovery.Last week they told that the multifaceted, which is 2 miles long and 1 mile wide, belonged to the ancient Vicús culture.It was likely either a religious center or a graveyard for decency. The Vicús was a pre-Hispanic civilization that flourished in Peru’s northern coastal desert from 200 B.C to 300 A.D.It is known for its ornamented ceramics. Experts say, its sites have been heavily looted over the years.chief archaeologist for INC’s Piura division César Santos Sánchez said,”We found several partial pyramids, at least ten,”.”We also found a large adobe platform that we speculate could have been used for burial rituals. But we cannot know without further testing.”

Executives of Adobe announce the availability of AIR 1.0, a free download for Windows and Macintosh.Adobe will release Flex 3.0, its application development tool that is now free and open-source. Another development tool BlazeDS, for linking Flex applications to back-end business applications, will also be released into open source as premeditated.Adobe has been working on AIR for at least two years.Adobe’s chief technology officer Kevin Lynch,first openly spoke about it. The company plans to build AIR versions of many of its Web applications and also photo-imaging application Photoshop Express and Premier Express for editing video.AIR applications can run offline, access data on a person’s hard drive, have a desktop icon, and run without the need of a browser.Users can use any Web development kit, like Ajax frameworks, to write applications that will run on AIR.These Web-native desktop applications have become an active area of software development–Adobe says that there are over 100 AIR applications–and alternatives to AIR are starting to become visible.The Mozilla Foundation launched a project called Prism that brings offline access to Web applications.Lynch said “We’re just getting back the lost treasures of the desktop that we lost when we went to the Web,”.He also said AIR is not bloodthirsty with Microsoft Windows or other operating systems.it enables people to use Web development techniques and toolkits.A version of AIR for Linux is predictable later this year. Adobe will also create versions that run on mobile devices in the future. The main driver for bringing offline access to Web applications is mobility.The New York Times, for instance, has created an application with AIR that will allow people to move content, such as Web links and maps, from their desktops to mobile devices.Lynch said that Adobe intends to use open-source software and practices more. He noted that many pieces of its development products are already open-source,including the scripting engine in Flash.It was donated to the Mozilla Foundation for insertion in the Firefox Web browser.
